Shaving off the isms and shining light on the crude-tool of word once again
Some call me a Communist. Great grandkids of participators in the red scare, still scared red three generations later. I get it, that became a dirty word in our society cause it got hijacked by Eurasian tyrants. No surprise there, that's what they do. Tyrants. Cheap word, as all are, but I'll use it to make a point and compromise my soul in the process.
Now, if we're going do the dark tango with words, an inherently losing battle, then let’s just do the words and try to escape their connotations. So, when I say communism, we're not going to think Stalin and the like, and when I say Capitalism, we aren't going to think smokey factories, or an oppressed working class, or JD Rockefeller slurping oysters from the ivory-washed palms of a teary-eyed virgin on her knees. When I say communism, cut off the ism, we got commune, a community. A group of people. Okay. A system about people. And when I say capitalism, again, shaving off the ism, we're left with capital. Cold hard cash, gold, land, food, things. Stuff.
